CRITICS RAVE ABOUT E. KATHERINE KERR!
IN THEATER
THE NEW YORK TIMES - Frank Rich
Mr. Durang wrote LAUGHING WILD for E. Katherine Kerr and one can see why. In a chic and
mesmerizing performance, this actress delivers her most hostile lines with a savage,
taunting bark that might make Elaine Stritch seem like Pollyanna. Miss Kerr also enjoys
riding Mr. Durang's lightning-fast transitions in tone to create the Sister Maryesque aura
of danger exuded by a crazy woman who retains her intelligence and wit. Her descents into
tearfully "sad longing" are convincing.
NEW YORK POST - Clive Barnes
This is wonderful stuff, and Kerr, looking more dangerously, stupidly
intelligent by the second as her aberrant behavior hits the fan, plays it to the hilt. She
is excellent.
DAILY NEWS - Don Nelson
The superior acting skills of E. Katherine Kerr bring to
life an alienated yet sociable looney who's been to Creedmore three times. She
is totally believable. I know. I work with people like this every day. Durang
has given her some extremely funny - and true - dialogue, which Kerr turns into
a persuasive portrait of urban helplessness.
BACKSTAGE -
David Gersten
E. Katherine Kerr will surely draw comparison to Lily Tomlin, which is
certainly no insult. Rare is the actor who can captivate an audience alone on an almost
hare stage. And captivating she is! Kerr proved her wide-ranging abilities with her
multiple roles in CLOUD 9 several seasons back; here, she once again demonstrates that as
an actress she is a force to be reckoned with.
VARIETY - Humm
Kerr is an accomplished and stagewise performer. She is
a sardonic, sarcastic treat.
NEWSDAY - Allan Wallach
Kerr is quite marvelous
VILLAGE VOICE - Michael Feingold
Kerr performs with graceful, slashing
bravura.
BERGEN RECORD - Robert Feldberg
Kerr has the timing of a stand-up comic. With a chillingly loud laugh,
she is as disturbing as she is funny.1010 RADIO - Leida Snow
Kerr is wonderful.
WMCA and WICC RADIO - Susan Granger
E. Katherine Kerr delivers a powerful, potent performance proving she's one of the most
versatile, talented actresses around.
BUFFALO-COURIER - Paul Jayes
And Katherine Kerr in the title role of "OH, KAY" is alone worth the price of
admission.
NEW ORLEANS CLARION HERALD - Rosemary
Ruiz
Highest of the Highlights was anything
done by Katherine Kerr. (How many beautiful actresses do you know who can also
be first-rate funny?) She is.
NEW ORLEANS TIMES/PICAYUNE - James Perry
If Miss Kerr does not emerge as one of this country's outstanding actresses, we'll be
surprised - and more than disappointed. She is, without exception (and counting imported
'stars'), the finest performer ever to grace the stage et repertory theater.
WDSU-TV - A1 Shea
Katherine Kerr is a lady who in time and with the good Harris
luck could be every bit
as valuable to the American theater as Julie Harris. Miss Kerr is so on target as Blanche DuBois she sends shivers down you. Katherine Kerr plays it from the inside out - it's a
remarkable, intelligent performance.PITTSBURGH VALLEY NEWS - Pat Condelli
As Louise in "FATHER'S DAY" Kerr's brilliant portrayal brings a reality to
this character that makes every woman in the audience a part of her too. Her acting
techniques shine most brightly when her eyes often belie her words to reveal that she is a
deeply hurt woman.
VIEUX CARRE COURIER - Nell Curran
Katherine Kerr stops the show with a wistful, moving
rendition of a new song. I have yet to see Ms Kerr NOT stop a show. Whatever she
touches seems to turn to magic.

PEOPLE MAGAZINE
- Ralph Novak
A deft performance from E. Katherine Kerr as the representative who finds Quaid among
her strange bedfellows. She has a touchingly haunted quality.
NEWSWEEK - David Ansen
E. Katherine Kerr is first rate.
LOS ANGELES TIMES - Sheila Benson
And there is the thoughtful, intelligent handsomeness of E. Katherine Kerr as the
Congresswoman whose vote is so crucial to Quaid. Kerr brings warmth to a moment that might
be coolly cynical.
WOMEN'S WEAR DAILY - David Lida
Especially sympathetic is E. Katherine Kerr as a lonely Congresswoman.
USA TODAY - Donna Britt
SUSPECT's clever script and casting don't hurt. strong support is provided by E.
Katherine Kerr, who in a small part shows HOW APPEALING A STRONG, OVER-40 WOMAN CAN BE.

Kerr is a marvelous comedienne. The play is bound to go far. It has as many sure-fire
